2015 Pan-Am Games

ARISE Ministry has been engaged in a variety of meetings with different people planning for the 2015 Pan-Am Games.  We have been thinking about the impact the 2015 Pan-Am Games may have on those who are most vulnerable in our community.  What impact will the Games have on those who are street-involved, in particularly those involved in the sex-trade.  We often hear how sex trafficking and large sporting events.  The Pan-Am Games in the 2nd Largest Sporting Event, it is 2nd only to the Summer Olympics and is DOUBLE the size of the Winter Olympics!

This week I met with More Than Gold 2015, an organization that works with the 2015 Pan-Am Games planning committee and has opportunities for churches and the Christian community to engage with the 2015 Pan-Am Games through a variety of volunteer opportunities.  If you’re interested in getting involved, please check out their website for volunteer opportunities.
