Members of the band are Hugh Donnelly (guitar and mandolin) Scott Cooper (banjo mandolin and guitar) David Linderman (guitar mandolin and whistles) and Stephen Kendall (bass and guitar). They all contribute vocals and hail from Toronto, Durham Region and Mississauga. Ian MacCready looks after sound and equipment.

“Human sex trafficking goes with national and international sporting events,” Karen Hamilton, General Secretary of the Canadian Council of Churches said in a Lecture Series at Ottawa’s First Baptist Church. “And it will be coming to my city, because Toronto is hosting the Pan Am Games this summer.”

ARISE Ministry has been engaged in a variety of meetings with different people planning for the 2015 Pan-Am Games. We have been thinking about the impact the 2015 Pan-Am Games may have on those who are most vulnerable in our community. What impact will the Games have on those who are street-involved, in particularly those involved in the sex-trade. We often hear how sex trafficking and large sporting events. The Pan-Am Games in the 2nd Largest Sporting Event, it is 2nd only to the Summer Olympics and is DOUBLE the size of the Winter Olympics!
This week I met with More Than Gold 2015, an organization that works with the 2015 Pan-Am Games planning committee and has opportunities for churches and the Christian community to engage with the 2015 Pan-Am Games through a variety of volunteer opportunities. If you’re interested in getting involved, please check out their website for volunteer opportunities.
